Tuesday Tech Question presented by Evans Coolant

Question:

Do I need a diaper on my Advanced ET Dragster that I’m finishing up?  I think it should run 7.20 in the ¼-mile at my local track.

Answer:

In the 2018 NHRA Rulebook section 4B page 10 paragraph 2, Oil-Retention Device it reads: “All vehicles running 7.49 or quicker must utilize an NHRA-accepted lower engine oil-containment device; may use a belly pan in lieu of a device attached to the engine.”  This also would apply to any Advanced ET vehicle that runs 4.49 - 3.66 in the 1/8-mile.
