Tuesday Tech Question presented by Evans Coolant

Question:

We are preparing a dragster for Super Comp. he question we have is, our transmission case was SFI 4.1 certified and the tag is punched out November 2013.  The case is 5 years old and needs to be re-certified, are we permitted to run a SFI 4.1 shield over the case?

Answer:

You would be able to add an SFI 4.1 transmission shield over your expired aftermarket case and it would be legal.  The other thing to remember is that the aftermarket case was also SFI 30.1 flexplate shield certified and you would need to now add an SFI 30.1 flexplate shield.
