Tuesday Tech Question presented by Evans Coolant

Question:

I’m going to add a fire extinguisher in my Pro ET race car.  What rules do I need to follow?

Answer:

Per the 2018 NHRA Rulebook Section 21, page 38. It is recommended that each contestant have a loaded, serviceable fire extinguisher in their race car, available for immediate use.  Dry chemical or CO2-type, 2 ½-pound minimum size recommended.  Must be mounted in a secure manner; use of flip-open-type clamps prohibited.  Flip-open-type metal clamps with locking hairpin is acceptable
