NHRA WELCOMES ALAMO CITY MOTORPLEX TO THE NHRA MEMBER TRACK NETWORK

GLENDORA, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2019) – Alamo City Motorplex, located in Marion, Texas, just east of San Antonio, has joined the NHRA Member Track Network in Division 4, the South Central Division.

Opened in 1999, Alamo City Motorplex (formerly San Antonio Raceway) will become a valued addition to the NHRA South Central Division. They will host several new and exciting NHRA programs for 2019 and beyond.

Alamo City Motorplex has been purchased by Essie Mianabi. Madyson Ayesh will oversee the day-to-day operations as the track’s general manager. Ayesh previously served as the track manager for Kansas International Dragway.

“I am very excited to see the new ownership so dedicated to rebuilding and establishing Alamo City Motorplex as the place to race in South Texas,” said Trey Capps, NHRA South Central Division director. “It is always nice to have a new track owner with vision and drive to make their facility great and joining the NHRA Member Track Network is big step to reach those goals. The programs offered to NHRA Member Tracks will enhance the competitive opportunities available for racers and fans in the community.”

As an NHRA-sanctioned track, the facility will be eligible to offer racers a variety of NHRA racing opportunities, including the NHRA Summit Racing Series, the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League, NHRA Jr. Street and the NHRA Drags: Street Legal Style presented by AAA. Additionally, the track has the opportunity to host NHRA’s specialty events including the NHRA.tv Challenge, NHRA Summit King of the Track, Ellis County Auto Good Guy Challenge Series, and NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League Challenge.

“Our goal and vision for Alamo City Motorplex is to bring our racers and fans the premier drag racing experience in South/Central Texas,” said Ayesh. “Through consistency, transparency, and honest business practices, we will execute our vision and provide our racers, fans, and business partners a positive, prosperous and enjoyable racing experience.”

Alamo City Motorplex is a multi-use facility boasting a quarter-mile drag strip, drifting track, and concert venue. With scheduled eight-mile and quarter-mile events there is something for every fan and racer. In addition to having a quarter-mile track for drag racing events, Alamo City Motorplex is also home to the area’s best Club Loose Drifting days. With a seating capacity of over 2,500 for spectators there is not a bad seat in the house. The facility boasts new restrooms and full-service concession stands as well. Alamo City Motorplex is one of the most fan and family friendly venues in South Texas.
