NHRA Technical Department Issues Safety Reminder

The NHRA Technical Department would like to remind racers about the proper use of safety equipment. Ensuring the safety of our competitors is a prime focus of the Technical Department and while maintaining your own safety is motivation enough, we would like to remind racers of the additional consequences for their misuse of safety equipment. If any competitor is found to be misusing, circumventing, or using inoperable safety equipment, they will be subject to penalties at the sole and absolute discretion of the NHRA Technical Department. These penalties can include disqualifications, suspensions, and monetary fines. Additional offenses by a participant can result in an escalation of these penalties.

Furthermore, if a competitor is found to have any safety equipment violations at any point past the ready line, the driver will be forced to shut the vehicle down and return to the pits without making a pass. It is the racer’s responsibility to confirm that all required safety equipment is present and functional.
