FULL SLATE OF LUCAS OIL DRAG RACING SERIES ACTION AT 22 NATIONAL EVENTS

 

 

GLENDORA, Calif. – Earlier today NHRA officials announced details of its 22-event 70th anniversary season which includes a full slate of Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series action.  The Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series will be contested at all 22 events on each event day.

 

Outside of the 44 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Regional and Divisional events around the country. Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series stars can be seen battling it out on largest stage in drag racing as a part of the 22 NHRA Camping World National Events. They will all be vying for the elusive honor of being named the 2021 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series World Champion. 

 

At 16 NHRA Camping World National Events you can see 5 second, 250 MPH Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car contestants.

 

Competition Eliminator, Top Dragster presented by Vortech Superchargers, and Top Sportsman presented by Vortech Superchargers, will be contested at 18 NHRA Camping World National events in 2021.

 

The event schedule and venue for an additional TBD event on June 18-20 will be released at a future date. 

 

The points structure for the 2021 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national championship will be as follows:

 

·         Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car

o   Best 3 of 5 regional and best 7 of 10 national events

·         Comp, SS, STK, SC, SG, SST, TD, and TS

o   Best 5 of 8 divisional events and best 3 of 6 national events

The thrilling JEGS SPORTSnationals event, which has been an annual staple of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, will return to National Trail Raceway as part of the doubleheader weekend and takes place July 15-16. The SPORTSnationals features high-level racing in eight NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories as drivers collect national-level points while competing for their share of more than $100,000 in prize money.

 

Also, the JEGS Allstars will take place during the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals, Sept. 1-5 at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis for the second straight year, adding another thrilling aspect to the biggest racing weekend of the year. Each season, the JEGS Allstars competition crowns champs in 10 categories, and an overall team champion. A highlight of each year and featuring the top sportsman drivers in the sport, the event features a total purse of more than $150,000.  Additional details will be announced shortly regarding the 2021 events that count towards the JEGS Allstar event at the NHRA U.S. Nationals.
