Tuesday Tech Question

Question:

I am finishing up the chassis on my new altered that I plan to debut next season.  I would like to install a rear wing, but I would like to know if there are any rules I should be aware of before mounting it to the chassis.

Altered Al

Answer:

Altered Al,

When mounting your wing to an open wheel/body car, you must ensure that it is only mounted via plates and/or short brackets.  The maximum distance, center-to-center, from the upper wing tab and the lower roll cage tab bolts is 6 inches.  Tube type or extended wing stands are prohibited when mounting wings to any components of the driver’s compartment of any SFI roll cage.
