Tuesday Tech Question

Dear NHRA Tech Department,

I want to build an 8 second car that has a uni-body frame. What SFI spec do I need to follow in order for my car to go that fast?

                Eight Second Eddy

Tuesday Tech Question Answer

Eight Second Eddy,

You have two SFI specs that you can build an 8 second car with, 25.5B and 25.4B. The 25.5B spec is for a back-half chassis and is certified from 7.50 – 8.49 seconds. The 25.4B spec is for a full body chassis and is certified from 7.50 – 8.49 seconds. When working with a uni-body frame, please refer to section in each SFI spec; V Variation In Configuration – Basic Frame Design, 1-Uni-Body Construction, for instruction on how to work with a uni-body chassis.

Thank You,

NHRA Technical Department
