For the 2017 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series all Class and Personal indexes and policies will remain unchanged. Competitors who adjusted their index (personal or Class) in two classes during the 2016 season will be permitted to change classes in 2017.
For 2017, the NHRA Altitude Correction Process will change. The current process, 2016 and previous, rounded up the second or hundredth digit, as an example 0.1234 = 0.13, then truncated (deleted) the third digit and beyond. The new 2017 process will continue to truncate or delete all digits past the second or hundredth digit however it will no longer perform the rounding function. This new process will better align the Altitude Correction Processes utilized within NHRA. Below are a few examples showing how this change will affect classes only when altitude adjustments are made:
Class 2016 ¼ Mile Alt Index 2017 ¼ Mile Alt Index
AA/AM 7.14 7.13
CC/A 7.66 7.65
A/D 7.24 7.23
C/DA 7.84 7.83
