Question:
I am changing my Top Dragster over to a dry sump oil system. I am getting ready to fit the appropriate oil lines. I heard that these lines have to be tested. Could you please explain?
Answer:
You are correct; some of these new lines will need to be tested. All flexible-pressure oil lines that will be subject to pressures greater than 30 psi must pass a minimum 300 psi test for 30 seconds with no indications of separation, weeping, leaking, etc. You are allowed to test and tag your own lines. Just remember to label them, with something impervious to fuel and brake-clean, and be sure to indicate the date, psi, and tester ID on that label.
