An 18+ category (Masters) has been added to the 2019 Junior Dragster rulebook.  The new class designation removes the age limitation so that NHRA’s young, up and coming racers no longer age out of competition.  The Junior Master Class also provides a new, economical entry point for adults of all ages to begin competing in Sportsman Drag Racing at NHRA Member Tracks. 

NHRA Member Tracks can run a variety of events including the Junior Master Class.  However, the Master (18+) category cannot be merged into any other JDRL class that competes for annual track points championships or other NHRA programs like JDRL Conference Finals or Division Finals.  The Junior Masters category is not an official class in the Division Finals program for 2019, therefore, must be contested separately from classes earning points towards participation in Summit ET Division Finals or Summit JDRL Division Finals events.  Additionally, Junior Masters participants cannot compete alongside Junior Intermediate or Junior Novice drivers.  

The Junior Dragster Master Class mirrors the technical rules for the 7.90 category including driver safety apparel.  Runs quicker than 7.50, or faster than 89.99 mph will be an automatic disqualification from the event.  Driver must hold an NHRA Competition License Level 7 or greater, with a JrM registration number. 

NHRA License Applications for ages 18+ are available on nhraracer.com.  For a currently registered NHRA Competitor, the JrM category may be added to any level of license for $10/year.  For new competitors with a state-issued license beyond a learner’s permit, the Level 7 license requires no new license passes at the time of application.  For new competitors who do not hold a state-issued licensed beyond a learner’s permit, Section 3 will be required for application, including six (6) licensing passes.
