Today NHRA officials announced the points structure for the national, regional, and divisional Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events.
TOP ALCOHOL DRAGSTER AND FUNNY CAR
National Championship:
Each Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver is eligible to earn points at their first five regional and first ten national events. A driver’s best three regional and best seven national finishes from their eligible points-earning events will constitute their NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national championship points total.
Regional Championship:
Each Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver may compete for home-region NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series points at up to seven regional events and will be credited with their best five finishes (including up to two out-of-region races - A minimum of three home region events must apply in final total) counting toward the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series regional championship.
COMP, SS, STK, SC, and SG
National Championship:
Each driver in COMP, SS, STK, SC, and SG is eligible to compete for points at eight divisional and six national events.
A driver’s best five divisional and best three national finishes from their eligible points-earning events will constitute their NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national championship points total.
Divisional Championship (includes SST):
Each driver in COMP, SS, STK, SC, SG, and SST is eligible to compete for home-division NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series points at up to eight division events and will be credited with their best five finishes (including up to two out-of-division races - A minimum of three home region events must apply in the final total) counting toward the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series division championship.
TD and TS
National Championship:
Each driver in TD and TS is eligible to compete for points at eight divisional and five national events.
A driver’s best five divisional and best three national finishes from their eligible points-earning events will constitute their national championship points total.
Divisional Championship:
Each driver in TD and TS is eligible to compete for home-division points at up to eight division events and will be credited with their best five finishes (including up to two out-of-division races - A minimum of three home region events must apply in the final total) counting toward the Series division championship.
ETMX DIVISIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (D4, D5, D6, and D7)

EVENT POINTS WAVIER
Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Comp, SS, STK, SC, SG, TD, TS, SST, and ETMX competitors at a national, regional or divisional event will have the option to not claim an event for points. To take advantage of this option, teams will need notify the Division Director prior to the first pair of cars starting for the first qualifying session for their category if they elect to not claim the event points. If the Division Director has not been notified prior to your respective first qualifying session the event will count towards your championship points total.
For regional or divisional events, whether you elect to claim or not claim the points for the Regional Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Championship, points will still be earned toward the Jegs Allstars program.
